Widen Appliance Expands Support for Internal & External Demand
Widen Enterprises is pleased to announce the release of the Widen Appliance. The Widen Appliance is an extension of the Widen Media Collective® intended to offer greater value and support to creative personnel. The offering will allow Widen digital asset management systems to extend functionality to meet both internal and external demand for digital media. Widen will maintain the hosted platform with access via a web-browser to serve the external needs of marketing, while adding the Widen Appliance on the client side to allow for integration into internal systems accommodating creative workflows.
The addition of the Widen Appliance aims to incorporate the requirements of marketing and creative while reducing redundant work and inconsistent brand representation. By continuing to act as the service provider, Widen is responsible for the maintenance of the on-site software/hardware combination.
Together the installed Widen Appliance and hosted Media Collective support the following business objectives:
- One central location of digital assets supporting cross-functional usage and demand from internal and external employees and affiliates
- Notifications for digital asset check-in / check-out to eliminate redundant work and distribution of outdated materials
- Immediate access to digital assets at local speeds for designers working in desktop page production software
- Self-service access to the masses using a web browser with simple search-and-order functionality
- Integral part of business continuity and disaster recovery plans with replicated locations of marketing and creative production services

However, in their own selfish right, they each require use of digital assets for two different reasons: (1) marketing needs to distribute them to the sales channels so the product can be accurately represented and promoted to the marketplace and (2) creative personnel need to use digital assets within their desktop software applications to create brochures, advertisements and other digital assets."
