Widen Enterprises, Inc. is enhancing its' color proofing capabilities by shifting proofing technology to an Epson Stylus Pro 9800 proofing device driven by GMG color-managed software to provide its clients with color-certified contract proofs. This proofing workflow meets current SWOP and GRACoL specifications and produces the most color-accurate proofs available. The combination of GMG color management capabilities with Epson output guarantees clients a seamless production of proofs that meet customers' quality expectations.
By using GMG software, Widen provides a market-leading solution for color-accurate contract proofs. "Widen Enterprises continuously invests in technology to support its portfolio of international customers with one-stop graphic communications services. We are pleased they choose GMG as the most consistent, cost-effective proofing solution capable of delivering the national, international, and custom color standards they demand," said Jim Summers, President of GMG Americas.
The software incorporates GMG's "4-D Color Transformation Engine" which assures optimum quality, color accuracy, consistency, and repeatability in producing contract proofs. These media meet the requirements of contract proofing and conform to precise specifications and tolerances - ISO, PSR-ECI, SWOP, and 3DAP standards. GMG ProofControl takes proofing to another level with instant, color-accurate verification of proofs. Color strips are measured and given pass/fail status; a label is attached which shows information and values needed for production based on GRACoL1, SWOP3, and SWOP5 specifications and tolerances.
Widen's extensive experience in large-format ink jet proofing provided the basis for the shift in proofing technology. According to Mark Pajari, Widen's Color Manager, "The addition of GMG software driving our Epson Stylus Pro 9800 printers have taken our ink jet proofing to a whole new level. We have the ability to produce stable, consistent contract-level proofs for our customers that can be matched on any printing press."
The Epson Stylus Pro 9800 8-color ink technology and wide color gamut provides advanced color and clarity. Improved lightfastness ratings range between 108 years for color and over 200 years for black and white. Metamerism, bronzing, and gloss-differential effects have been reduced or eliminated. "We're very pleased that Widen Enterprises has chosen to incorporate our Epson Stylus Pro 9800 with UltraChrome K3 inks," said Mark Radogna, group product manager, Professional Imaging Division, Epson America, Inc. "Epson's printing technology is considered by most leading organizations in this industry to be the standard for today's most demanding mission-critical proofing applications."
