Widen Appliance - On-Site Digital Asset Management System
The Widen Appliance extends DAM into creative workflows with an on-site Digital Asset Management system providing hardware on the customer site behind the firewall and software integrated direct to the desktop.
The Widen Appliance digital asset management system on the client site feeds internal demand at LAN speeds while synchronizing data with the Widen Collective hosted DAM. The Widen Appliance is maintained, owned, and upgraded by Widen technical staff in accordance with internal IT policies. Integration of the Widen Appliance is implemented in conjunction with the Widen Media Collective hosted digital asset management system. The hosted service responds to external demand while the on-site service meets internal demand for digital assets. Both Widen Collective and Appliance users interact with assets through a web browser user interface.
Here's how the Widen Appliance works in conjunction with the hosted digital asset management system:
- Sync with the cloud while accessing assets at LAN speeds - On-site employees benefit from local area network speeds to quickly find and use desired assets within desktop applications like Adobe CS or Quark (without application plug-ins). The Widen Appliance web UI and desktop integration component is both Mac & PC compatible, and includes source file check-in/check-out controls, version control and history tracking and drag and drop uploading, downloading and editing.
- Access assets off-site via the Widen Collective - Personnel and affiliates (sales channels, agency partners, media contacts, and vendors) access digital assets remotely via hosted Widen Collective service.
- We'll handle security and scalability - Widen's infrastructure and security shelters organizations from external threats and accommodates exponential growth requirements.
- Business continuity plans remain in check - Replication of digital assets (either real-time or batched) in different geographic locations (on the client site Appliance and Widen Collective data centers) remains consistent with IT disaster recovery policies and provides hot-site backups.
