7 things to remember from the 2016 Intelligent Content Conference

by Nina Brakel-Schutt, April 1, 2016

Intelligent Content Conference

What is intelligent content? Marketing content with smart features, a process for making content do intelligent things, or a whole new philosophy to embrace about the purpose of content itself? That’s what we set out to find this year at the 2016 Intelligent Content Conference in Las Vegas.

Turns out, intelligent content is many things, but here’s the universal accepted definition from Intelligent Content guru, Ann Rockley: Intelligent content is content that’s structurally rich and semantically categorized and therefore automatically discoverable, reusable, reconfigurable, and adaptable.”

Many presentations at the conference brought this definition to life, and we couldn’t help but see intelligent content’s inherent connection to Digital Asset Management (DAM). DAM is a process that helps marketers create, manage, share, publish and analyze their visual content in a way that makes it discoverable, reusable, and reconfigurable. In many ways, the functionality in a DAM system enables content to be intelligent. And in turn, enables marketers to make smarter decisions about the content they create, consume and share.

Because there were so many great learnings at the conference, we’ve compiled the top7 things to remember from ICC 2016 in one simple slide deck.

Widen also sponsored this year’s event and shared a great presentation called “The DAM Awakens,” featuring Jake Athey, of Widen, and Jay Pongonis, of Hexagon Geospatial. In the presentation, the two talk about how DAM powers intelligent content with 6 key drivers to support agile and scalable content operations.

    1. Governance enables discoverability – to find, retrieve, prepare and publish content.
    2. Metadata makes content structurally rich.  It gives assets meaning.
    3. Taxonomies semantically categorize content.
    4. Collections offer another intelligent way to make content REUSABLE.
    5. Transformation enables reconfigurability.
    6. Web enablement makes DAM an integral component to scaling your content.

"A DAM solution can transform a business, serving as the engine for all content delivery to empower sales, resellers and support e-commerce. And it helps derive meaningful analytics to grow your business."
