Searching for the right digital asset management (DAM) system is no easy task. That's why we created this handy guide to help you reach the milestones necessary to implement a DAM system.
There are lots of ways to think about this process, and you should always remain open to tweaking this model to make it more suitable to your own software evaluation needs, but we've divided the process into four phases:
- Strategize - It all starts with you getting a grasp on your own processes and identifying those pain points you want to address with DAM software. What's the goal? Where is there waste you can eliminate?
- Research - Knowing is half the battle. Well... according to our model, it's about a quarter of the battle — but you get the idea. Look for white papers, talk to experts, and gather the resources you'll use as the basis for an informed decision.
- Justify - Justifying the DAM software implementation is about more than ROI. You'll need buy-in from key stakeholders in your organization, an accountable DAM team, and a champion who can lead the way.
- Evaluate - Eventually, you'll have some comparisons to make. This process should be guided by a desire to find not the biggest or flashiest solution, but the best fit for your unique needs.
In all, we estimate that this process usually takes 11 to 20 weeks, depending on the resources and time you put into the search for the best-fit DAM solution.
