– NEW look, same great taste!

Before I joined the Widen team, I had little or no idea what “digital asset management” was.

When I first told my father, who for years has worked in the electronic payments (by no means a low-tech industry), about this new job I’d gotten at a company that did DAM software... he was lost.

When I tell some of my old college friends from the Missouri School of Journalism—all of whom work with digital assets, whether it’s in news, advertising or public relations—that I deal with digital asset management systems, they react about the same way one would expect a tired dog to react to my reading it stock market news: a raise of the eyebrow, a tilt of the head, and a blank stare that says “I haven’t quite figured out why I should care.”

And yet all of these people use digital assets heavily and, regardless of whether they know it, would greatly benefit from systems built to manage them better. DAM is one of those things people don’t tend to know they need.

Of course, we love it when prospective customers make the final decision to go with Widen, but we get more satisfaction out of knowing they’ve made the best, most informed decisions possible. That’s why we at Widen are giving a facelift to our educational satellite site,

For right now, the changes are mostly cosmetic (although there are a few cool new tools and resources already available). But over the coming months, we’ll be scouring the web for all the great DAM education resources that are out there... and we’ll get cracking on creating the ones that aren’t.

We’re also revitalizing our presence in social media, with a brand spanking new Facebook fan page, a rebooted Twitter feed, and The DAM Daily, a newsletter that aggregates the best in DAM, CMS, and marketing news not just from Widen, but from a bunch of other smart people with helpful things to say, like those at the DAM Foundation and CMS Wire.
