Mini Documentary: A look inside one of Widen's sources of innovation: Hackathon Days

Like any software company, Widen is proud of the innovation and creativity that flows through its people, processes, collaborative efforts, and ultimately its product and service experiences. In fact, that is our mission - “To Empower Creative Expression.”

We practice what we preach throughout the organization. From the marketing messages we present, to the client relationships we build, to the products and services we deliver, and the problems we solve.

From a research and development standpoint, we practice inspiring innovation on a regular basis with what we call Hackathon Days. Two days, twice a year, the development teams pause everything they're working on to create a variety of new, working software prototypes in 48 hours. Hackathon Day projects typically involve working on something a developer has encountered throughout the year. Projects could be something that helps streamline internal operations, present a creative solution to a recurring client problem, or just be a pure display of imagination with something cool, fun or enlightening.

Several of the innovations, features and processes that you experience with the Widen Media Collective DAM solution began with an idea or proof-of-concept born during Hackathon Days.
