Hoosier metadaddy? IU uses the Media Collective to manage digital assets

Serving more than 100,000 students, Indiana University (IU) provides broad access to undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education for students throughout Indiana, the U.S., and the world, as well as outstanding academic and cultural programs and student services. We recently had a chance to sit down with Eric Rudd, art director, photographer, and producer with the IU’s Communications and Creative Services department. Eric is one of the global admins for IU’s DAM site, and he shared with us their journey of replacing an old DAM system with the Widen Media Collective.

Being a Widen DAMster: An interview with Kelsey Bawel, Selection Archivist at Kelley School of Business

Kelsey Bawel is the Selection Archivist at Kelley School of Business in Indiana. After receiving her undergraduate degree in History and International Studies from Taylor University, she obtained her MLIS (Master of Library and Information Science) as well as a MA in Public History from Indiana University, Indianapolis.

Kelsey currently works part-time as a dedicated digital asset manager for the Kelley School of Business. We recently sat down with Kelsey to talk about her role there.

Being a Widen DAMster: An interview with Lucas Ledbetter, Informational Systems Administrator at Indiana University

Lucas is an Informational Systems Administrator for Indiana University. A big part of his job involves managing their DAM system, in tandem with Eric Rudd, the university’s lead staff photographer. Lucas is responsible for the structure of their Widen Media Collective site, including the creation and delegation of user groups, asset groups, and permission levels. He also provides personal support to make sure the Widen Media Collective is working as intended.

We recently visited Lucas in Indiana to get a better feel for what his team does every day and how Digital Asset Management plays a role in making things happen. Here’s what he had to say.
