Pioneer Balloon is a global company that offers balloons, promotional products, and partyware. In preparation for their 100th anniversary in 2017, they hired Teri Truesdell to research and implement a digital asset management (DAM) system to organize all of their historical assets and to offer a better distribution method for the thousands of products they sell globally.
In her first week at Pioneer, Teri discovered the need for a new organizational system through interviews with current employees. In their old system, running a simple search for product images took considerable amounts of time and rarely returned desired results. It was a frustrating experience, to say the least. To compensate, they had nearly four full-time employees searching, converting, and delivering assets.
The sales and marketing teams are worldwide, so the frustrations were not just local. They used to follow a time-consuming process to request assets from the creative teams. Now, the Widen Collective allows worldwide teams to get what they need on their own, without having to wait for the U.S. office to open.
Teri also discusses the process she followed when researching DAM. Her initial search resulted in a lack of trust in the solutions and the people she talked with. Luckily, Widen turned up in a second round of searching. She talks about how Widen’s consultative and educational approach helped her feel comfortable.
In addition to the personal relationship she formed with Widen’s advisors, the software itself proved to be very user friendly. She notes that it was a lot like other online experiences people have on a regular basis, so her users “just got it” right away.
Teri’s interactions with Widen’s staff has assured her that she made the right decision. She’s confident that Widen is “the most transparent and honest solution out there.”
As a family-owned company that’s nearly 70 years old, we can appreciate the Pioneer Balloon success and longevity, and we’re honored they have chosen the Widen Collective to protect their history and help power their growth for the next 100 years.
