Widen to exhibit, sponsor and present how to make digital asset management a success at HighEdWeb 2013

by ,

Event highlights at a glance:
For the second year in a row, Widen representatives will be at the annual conference of the Higher Education Web Professionals Association. HighEdWeb 2013 runs Sunday, October 6 through Wednesday, October 9 at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center in Buffalo, NY.
HighEdWeb is for all higher education Web professionals—from programmers to marketers to designers to all team members in-between— to explore the unique Web issues facing colleges and universities today.
Like last year in Milwaukee, Widen will be talking with higher ed web pros on how digital asset management has become a necessary website strategy to help colleges and universities better tell their story. See article. At last year’s conference, Widen’s Brand Strategist, Nina Brakel-Schutt co-presented with Lee Stadler, senior designer at Ottawa University. See video.
The highlight of the conference for Widen this year will be Nina’s presentation with Corey Chimko, the global DAM administrator for Cornell University, on the topic of “making digital asset management (DAM) a success for higher education.” Nina said in a recent press release:
“We’re excited about this opportunity to share best practices and lessons learned in digital asset management from one of the most knowledgeable DAM pros in higher ed – Corey Chimko. Digital asset management solutions and processes are one of the most mission-critical technologies to organizations today, especially colleges & universities.”
"Making digital asset management (DAM) a success for higher education"
The joint Cornell-Widen DAM software presentation is Tuesday, October 8 at 9:30 AM and will look at the following topics:
  • Key considerations when planning for a DAM system
  • How to approach metadata and search
  • Migrating assets to a categorized structure
  • Choosing a DAM administrator
  • User governance
  • Keeping your DAM system up-to-date
Corey also offered a comment on his presentation for the recent release:
“At Cornell, we’re managing over 460,000 assets and have deployed and used different DAM systems over the years. I’m honored to be able to share our story in hopes that we’ll be able to help other higher ed web professionals get a handle on how to plan, structure and utilize digital asset management solutions and make the most of valuable investments in digital media.”

Along with Nina Brakel-Schutt, I (Widen’s Marketing Manager Jake Athey @drdam) will be at booth #16 in the expo hall to provide demonstrations and answer questions about digital asset management challenges with higher education institutions big and small.
