The Widen Summit is the largest annual gathering of members of the Widen community, with three days packed full of learning, professional development, and fun. This year is all about creating the moment, because great brand experiences don’t just happen. They require planning, strategy, coordination, and execution.
Whether 2018 will be your first Summit or your seventh, here are 18 reasons why you should attend!
- Connect with the Widen community
You’ll be surrounded by 200+ people who are planning, analyzing, strategizing, and managing digital content across the entire content lifecycle. This gives you the opportunity to build connections, ask questions, and learn from other practitioners.
- Learn from author and customer experience expert Kerry Bodine
Keynote speaker Kerry Bodine will help us understand why the underlying framework of the customer journey is mission-critical to businesses, how to understand and document customers’ journeys, and how to create content strategies based on an understanding of customers’ needs and expectations across their journeys.
- The Best DAM contest
Four contestants. One winner. Watch admins from a variety of industries compete for the trophy in this year's Best DAM contest. Contestants will present their sites during lightning talks and answer audience-submitted questions. Our panel of judges will take your vote into consideration and crown a winner during Tuesday night's dinner and awards ceremony.
- Five new workshops
This year we’re offering five workshops to help you dive deeper into subjects and leave with practical knowledge and application. This year’s workshops will cover developing a winning DAM strategy, user experience research methods, streamlining your creative workflows, storytelling techniques to help you talk about DAM with your internal audiences, and brand strategy.
- Madison, WI
Madison is a beautiful, active city. It sits on an isthmus between lakes Mendota and Monona, which provide some lovely views. You’ll be staying downtown within walking distance of coffeeshops, restaurants, the event venue, and the lakes.
- Customer keynote by Scott Sharp, WestJet creative operations advisor
Scott has driven processes, improvements, and product delivery for over a decade by blending technology and art. As a creative operations advisor with WestJet airlines, Scott brings together people, process, and technology to create the best products for his clients and guests. Most recently, he has championed DAM, which will increase efficiency and reduce risk related to digital assets at the 2018 best airline in Canada as awarded by TripAdvisor.
- Welcome reception at the Discovery Building
We’ll kick off the first evening of the 2018 Summit at the Discovery Building on UW-Madison's campus. You’ll enjoy dinner stations and drinks as you meet new colleagues and reconnect with old friends. A balloon artist and magician will keep your attention and get the DAM fun going!
- Segmented tracks so everyone at every level of experience leaves with helpful information
Breakout sessions are organized into three tracks: foundations, expansions, and evolutions. You can stick to one track for all of the sessions you choose or switch it up and go to the ones that best meet your needs.
- Assets Essentials
Before the official Summit kickoff, you can enroll in this in-depth training course that addresses the most important concepts in DAM and Widen Collective® administration and includes a variety of hands-on activities. The cost for Assets Essentials is $799. The course is limited to 14 participants, so register soon!
- One-on-one consulting sessions
Do you have some big questions about the Collective you’d like to talk about in person? Meet with your customer experience manager, a Widen Support team member, or an advisor to get answers. Just indicate you’d like one-on-one time when you register.
- Six customer show-and-tell speakers
Ever wonder how other DAM admins set up their Collective site? Take a peek at other Widen customer sites as several customers walk through different aspects of their site.
- Industry roundtables
Spend time networking with other Widen DAMsters in your industry. Compare notes, discuss common problems, and make long-term connections.
13a. Jump around at Camp Randall Stadium tour
Monday afternoon, get to know other conference attendees during the Camp Randall Stadium tour. The stadium has been home of the Wisconsin Badgers since its opening game on November 3, 1917. Weather permitting, you’ll even step onto the turf!
13b. Escape This escape room
Alternatively, you can spend Monday afternoon in an escape room. You and your fellow conference attendees will have 60 minutes to work as a team to find clues, solve puzzles, and crack codes in order to escape the room in time.
- Get the latest information about Widen products and services
Learn about how you can get the most out of advancements in Widen products and services, in addition to what to prepare for in the future, by attending the product roadmap session, stopping by the exhibition hall, and talking with Widen employees.
- 90% of 2017 Summit attendees said they are likely to return
Still unsure if the Summit is right for you? Last year we surveyed attendees and 90% said they are likely to return. In addition, 96% said they’ll use what they learned at the Summit to improve their Collective site.
- Good food
Your Summit ticket includes lunch and an opening night reception on Monday; breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Tuesday; and breakfast and lunch on Wednesday. It’s in Wisconsin, so there will be cheese!
- The Monona Terrace
Monona Terrace is a convention center like no other, rising from the blue expanse of Lake Monona and just two blocks from the State Capitol and streets full of shops and restaurants. It’s a great venue!
- Develop yourself as the superhero of content at your organization
We’ll end with a past Summit attendee’s words: "The Widen Summit allows DAM administrators to connect with similar users and get their burning questions answered by friendly Widen staffers. You will leave the Summit with your brain buzzing with great ideas to make your DAM system better — and make you the superhero of content that's easy to find at your organization."
We’re so excited to host you and can’t wait to see you in October!
