Hello! I'm Laurel, a content specialist at Widen. My job includes writing white papers, web content, and blog posts. I’m new to the Widen marketing team, and I look forward to contributing to content strategy and helping create engaging content across platforms. It's no secret that the media/marketing landscape is changing. Audiences have an insatiable need for images, video, and stories. Working at Widen, I get to think about how to help people navigate their digital media collection, and see success stories about how organizations have used Widen products to make the most of their digital assets. I come from a science communications background. I’ve previously worked in biotech and astrophysics communications and while it may seem like a leap, working for a marketing technology company actually makes sense. Making complex ideas accessible is one of my favorite things to do.

Last October at the Widen Summit, an annual event for customers, we hosted the first-ever Best DAM contest. The contest featured five outstanding administrators that advanced digital asset management at their organization. During the contest, each admin shared information about their system, users, structure, and creativity during an eight-minute presentation in front of 200 industry professionals and four judges. Audience members and judges voted on a winner.

Assets Essentials: Training for DAM Admins

There's a new opportunity for you to develop your digital asset management skills and it was informed by your DAM admin peers.

In the fall of 2016, we embarked on a training experiment to measure customer interest in training and test some material we were considering. We invited twelve admins to join us for two days before the Widen Summit in exchange for their feedback on the content and an exploration of their training needs.

The best of the Chicago Widen Workshop

Last week we hosted the second ever Widen Workshop, this time in Chicago. Over 30 customers joined us to learn from each other and Widen staff about topics in digital asset management (DAM) like managing metadata, asset analytics, branding your site, and more.

The workshop built on the success of the New York Workshop, adding a customer presentation, securing an amazing venue (thanks, TechNexus!), and sponsoring a Midwest Digital Asset Managers meetup in the evening.

The day started early, with optional office hours for customers to meet with their customer experience manager (CXM) to talk about their Widen Collective site or DAM strategies.

This year, we’ll be at Henry Stewart DAM NY in booth 7 with people, information, and awesome swag (seriously – we have capes to give away) to help you be your own digital asset management (DAM) hero. DAM NY is the largest annual DAM conference in the world, held annually in New York.
