Dear Dr. DAM: MarComm won’t share

by ,

DEAR DR. DAM:  I’m Vern, the web marketing manager for multiple vacation resort chains.  I work with our marketing services division and multiple web developers to support over 50 different websites.  We get our rich media content form the marketing and creative staff, who is at a different location.  Our biggest issue is the lack of collaboration.  We have no global access to assets, which means we can’t get what we need when we need them.  MarComm isn’t sharing and you’re the only person that I can go to.  Given the delays, constant redundancy of tasks and lack of control of our own timelines, I feel like we’re locked in the past.  It’s 2008… shouldn’t our marketing software have real-time collaboration and more efficiency with rich media management?

DEAR NEED A VACA VERN:  Wow! You do have your hands full.  50+ websites and no control… I think you need a vacation… and a web-based DAM solution.  More than that, I think you’ll find the embed link technology will help you better manage your time since you only need to maintain master sets of images in one location without having to reproduce separate libraries for multiple web uses.  Widen will help the marketing communications and web teams play nice with each other and share.
