How Content Marketing and Events Work Together

I had the pleasure of speaking at the 7th annual AMA marketing conference in Madison yesterday. My co-worker, Al Falaschi, and I presented our company’s annual conference – the Widen Summit – as an example of how to generate great marketing content before, during, and after a live event.

But what exactly is content marketing? And what is the tie between live events and content marketing? 

The Content Marketing Institute defines content marketing as a strategic marketing approach focused on creating and distributing valuable, relevant, and consistent content to attract and retain a clearly-defined audience, and ultimately to drive profitable customer action. As Al pointed out in our presentation, the key word here is “consistent.”

Live events are a huge opportunity to curate, cultivate and create content that can be shared with others and provide a memorable experience about your organization. You can pull enough content from hosting one event to share meaningful information with your audiences all year long – consistently
