Widen’s 2015 year in review

Happy New Year! 2015 was full of great memories and accomplishments in our key areas of focus: creating a great company culture, improving processes, delivering the best products, standing by world-class service, and engaging an active digital asset management (DAM) community. We’re looking forward to another great year, and first celebrate some of our favorite moments from 2015.

1. CULTURE defines who we are as a freedom-centered workplace.

We start with a core part of the Widen identity: culture. Our most notable cultural accomplishment comes from our connection with WorldBlu as a certified freedom-centered workplace.

We’ve had a lot of great cultural moments in 2015, including:

These successful programs and events helped Widen become one of Madison’s Best Places to Work. The “Sparkle of the Year” comes with our partnership with the wonderful people at the Community Support Network, who have connected us to staff who keep the Widen headquarters clean and comfortable year-round.

If being a freedom-centered workplace sounds fun, you aren’t mistaken. It’s a comfortable, flexible work environment. This “freedom at work” doesn’t come without a continuous drive to innovate and improve, as you’ll see in the next section.

2. PROCESS improvements give us an agile, customer-centric approach.

With a mission of connecting marketing content across an interconnected network of people, systems, technologies, trends and insights, we constantly optimize the way we do things to ensure we’re meeting the needs of our customers, big and small, around the world.

Our most improved process of 2015 goes to our Agile development and product management proceedings involving bi-weekly sprint demos, monthly releases and scrummaster training. Their drive and focus resulted in great product improvements. We can’t wait to share some upcoming projects in 2016.

We continue to stay on top of today’s marketing trends and technologies with new implementations of:

  • HubSpot for inbound marketing automation and publishing
  • JIRA for project management and issue tracking
  • Freshdesk for customer support and knowledge base

Lastly, we’ve advanced our thought-leadership efforts with existing platforms like DigitalAssetManagement.com, external media (check out these top thought-provoking posts of 2015) and a new MarTech ebook defining the next generation of marketing technologists.

3. PRODUCTS delivered with the customer experience at the forefront.

Our agile development process has resulted in more frequent, customer-centered releases and technology improvements. 2015 started out with the release of a new and improved Widen Media Collective user interface (UI). User experience enhancements continue to be at the forefront of all product decisions.

Our most notable product release of the year is the all-new Insights application, which brings digital asset management analytics into the limelight. Our concentration on understanding digital asset performance is geared up to assist customers with their ongoing content strategy, production and promotion efforts.

Last, what would DAM be if it existed only on an island? Hence, our continued emphasis on integrations and interoperability with enhanced capability and usability with our API, Zapier integration, plus Sitecore, Salesforce and more coming in early 2016.

4. SERVICE continues to differentiate while building champions all around us.

At Widen, we strive to always give you the best-in-class customer service experience. That’s why we’ve assembled a world-class customer support team, including central support, implementation, training and consulting.

Among the new resources, we launched an all new Media Collective Support Center and Widen University training site. In addition, we added a new line of DAM consulting services to assist clients with everything from configuration and integration, to metadata and workflow development, training, analysis, marketing and promotion.

And last, our premedia teams have rebranded as digital content production services, providing a seamless experience from concept to distribution alongside the software services that help you automate your workflows.

5. COMMUNITY drives us to record levels of connecting content with our customers.

We celebrate our 2015 accomplishments with a wonderful community of customers, partners, vendors, employees, friends and family. Hosting 200 customers at the 4th annual Widen Summit definitely tops our list of memorable moments.

Through it all, we’ve welcomed more than 200 new customers to our growing community of DAM users across Media Collective and Smartimage, which powers the content workflows for hundreds of brands and 250,000 users around the world.

In the local community around us, the Funk Out Cancer fundraiser we help organize stands out as one of our most cherished events of the year. Thank you to all that made 2015 great!
